How do you measure your time?

If you don’t really care about what you’re doing, why are you wasting your precious time doing it? If you’re going to spend your time on something, then give your care, attention, interest, curiosity and enthusiasm to it. Ralph Marston

How do you spend your time? How do you decide to spend your time? Out of love or out of fear? Out of obligation, people pleasing, societal expectations, joy, passion, based on the future or the past? These are the questions that I have been faced with over the past few months! On the journey, I have been reading quite a few books and one of the most insightful ones I have come across is The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle. This book helped in radically shifting my perception of time and how I spend my time, its a work in progress but I practise everyday. He says the more you focus on time - past and future- the more you miss the NOW and now is the most precious thing , it is simply all there is. From reading this I said to myself wow Now is all I got, no one promised me tomorrow and if Now is all I have then why worry about yesterday or tomorrow, the future is made up of a bunch of Now's! That for me right there was just awesome!

So what did I learn today?
Life is NOW!!!!!!! There was never a time when your life was NOT now, nor will there ever be! Nothing exists besides now. As Eckhart Tolle says "Nothing ever happened in the past;it happened in the Now. Nothing will ever happen in the future;it wil happen in the Now" Now is all I got baby!!
Peace!!!

  1. Another fitting article. But how really is NOW the most important? Maybe it is when you think about it, I don't know.
Your past determined who you are now and what you do now determines what you will reap ahead? So that really when you think about the past, you think of it now and when you plan the future, you plan for it now? So that it's all about NOW. Hmmm. Interesting.

    1. Basically the way I see it is that Now is all you have for sure because the future is a projection of what you want, when you are fully in the moment you give it your all it eliminates stress why? Stress is caused by being "here" and wanting to be "there" or being in the present and wanting to be in the future. Both states where one has absolutely no control, one is gone and the other one is not promised. So back to my theory, now is all you got!!! Thanks for the comments, keep them coming!

  2. U are really too in tune with my thoughts A...When you are focusing too much on the future a lot of anxiety is created. Thinking about the past can lead to stress related issues or depression. But when you focus on the here and now...BINGO...that is the right formula for success, peace of mind and satisfaction. Find a job, business or path that you really enjoy and that is enlightening & the future will unfold its wonders. I found that a lot of my time was wasted on television and unedifying internet clips and I decided recently..suppose half of this time was spent on reading things that I enjoy or that will improve my position and thoughts and doing things that are enriching...our lives will be vastly improved day by day...

    1. I guess it goes to show that most of us are really quite similar and are all very much alike since we are so much in tune! It seems that you have made a decision to live consciously rather than just by random! Makes a difference to me when I choose rather than just live by default? Peace!!
