Travelling Back

Hello lovely people I have been enjoying my time off at home in Trinidad, I  have, though, missed you so I am popping in quickly to say that I am travelling back to Africa via London tomorrow, I will be back on the ground on Monday! Its been quite a nice time and of course there were a few lessons which I will be sharing with you over the next few posts once I settle back down! My prayers and wishes for peace goes out to my Kenyan brothers and sisters! I have some dear friends there! Sending out some peace vibes after hearing about the bombing at the mall earlier this week! When we recognize that we are all one these events will stop!! See you soon Peace!!

People are People - where ever we are

What would love do now? No other question is relevant, no other question is meaningful, no other question has any importance to your soul. (Neal Donald Walsh, author conversations with God) I missed you!! I am in Trinidad for a few days, the Internet is not as readily available as I thought it would be so you haven't been hearing from me as often! The trip so far has been really positive. Meeting with old friends, new friends, family and business opportunities! This week I had the pleasure in sitting in a women's project meeting! Rural Development for Women in Trinidad and Tobago, it was so much fun! Just shows that all over the world wherever I go there are women blazing the trails coming up with ideas to improve their lives and their communities. I will be working closely with them over the next few months and am really looking forward to it! Apart from that I visited  the Young Women's Nina Programme which I set up here in 2010! That is going guns!!! Of course

Home!

Throw your dreams into space like a kite, and you do not know what it will bring back, a new life, a new friend, a new love, a new country (Anais Nin) I am home! It feels awesome! It just fit me like a glove! The trip from Uganda took three days I left on Wednesday and arrived on Friday night! The trip was smooth! Things just fell into place. What I learnt was that we are the creators of our experience! At first I was a little sceptical but then I got it. Thought, word and deed all lined up creates your experience whether we do it consciously or unconsciously! So I made a conscious decision to be conscious about what I create! The next few days I am creating fun, awesomeness and love! So far, I have spent the day around the kitchen table with my granma getting some serious wisdom Looking forward to the trip! Come with me on the journey

Riskfree you

The key to changing the world, to changing your life, and to empowering those around you is authenticity - the willingness to be yourself - the willingness to be vulnerable - the willingness to feel - the willingness to live Panache Desai I read somewhere that being yourself involves no risk! I can truly identify with that statement! Just being yourself and showing up as you every single time This morning I had to visit the supermarkets in Kampala to sell some of our products I decided to show up as me! I was a little apprehensive as selling is not my strong point nor do I know the local language but being me involves no risk!   The first place I went to they greeted me in the local language, at least I can do that but then after is when the fun began, I responded in English and it went well. Five minutes into the conversation I say, you look familiar! Turns out I met him with my Journey to Self Discovery people! It all went famously from there! It set the tone for the re

Don't worry about losing

"Don't worry about losing. If it is right, it happens - the main thing is not to hurry. Nothing good gets away."    - John Steinbeck , author I’m getting ready to go back to Trinidad and Tobago for a short break, I pass through London for a few days! Pretty excited to go home to see friends and family and to see the peeps in London which is my second home, I lived there for most of my adult life! In preparation for my trip, I made plans to buy some gifts for friends and family! Up to now I haven’t been paid. I asked about it last week and they told me no one was paid that there was little or no money this week to pay the staff! Now coming here was a choice I made to work for a reduced amount of cash however they agreed to take care of my needs in terms of housing and transport. I made the choice fully aware that I wanted to be here to learn, share and serve its only one year out of my life! Anyways, in getting to this point I had shed all that I had and was sta

Step in to the unknown! The monsters are on holiday!

Can you show up in your life without a lot of guarantees? Brene Brown, author   I have learnt that waiting for a perfect moment, for me, is a sign of fear! There really is no perfect moment! the perfect moment is when you start! Waiting just allows me to make excuses about why and what and how I need to wait! So now, I jump in, I don't ask I just do! Now with that method I am learning that there are indeed some things that ought to be asked before! Lol!! Its striking a balance but the beauty of starting is that of course that I have conquered the fear and that I learn as I go along. It also teaches me that living a life filled with some uncertainty is ok! Simply, I do not know everything, I cannot! This is where faith comes in doesn't it! So take it from me, step into the unknown, there is magic and miracles there! Trust me there are really no monsters to slay there! Peace!!!

Kiti? or No Kiti?

I follow four dictates: face it, accept it, deal with it, then let it go."   - Sheng Yen , was a Buddhist monk. I lost my Ugandan driver’s permit. I have no idea where I put it. I went to the bank and took it out my bag went to the bank, I got back with it and that was the last time I saw it. I made an enquiry as to how can I replace my permit on base. There was a long sigh and some strange looks. “Madam it is a long and drawn out process” “ How long” I asked? “As long is as long is” “OK I need to get it sorted I prefer to have the driver’s permit, it’s just the right thing to do” As luck would have it, I jump in my car on my way home for lunch the police stops me! I panicked! As I approached the police to stop I acted in fear and speeded up and drove off. The police was scrambling to write down the licence plate! My heart was beating, my palms were sweating! Did I just drive off and not stop for the police??? What is really going on with me? So I got back to wo

How does free look on you?

I think I got lost somewhere inside my emancipation this fascination with unification has become a bit of an obsession that's my confession I'm going to approach this differently I'm feeling solutionary don't be afraid of me you're yet to see how free looks like on me (The Floacist Natalie Stewart, my favourite poet) How does free look on you? Free on me is a smiling face, a hip vibe, a hop skip and jump, an “I love me, no matter what anyone says or thinks” kind of look! The whole concept of freedom changed for me over the last few years, it signalled the end of working just to pay bills and keep up with the status quo, it signalled doing what brought me joy, what made me feel alive and happy! There is a press release going around about me and the book, and what struck me is how they summed me up in this sentence “I moved from scared and self conscious to mature, courageous and confident” I never thought about it until I saw that this week in print!

Life awaits you on the other side of risk

What can you lose? Face? Dignity? Who cares about those when greatness is possible? Who cares about those when fairy tales are at hand? (Neale Donald Walsh, author) I was listening to a lady yesterday talk about how she was so against her calling, she told me I knew what my calling was at the age of 14, I knew that I was called for a life in social justice and public speaking but I resisted! For many reasons but it all boiled down to fear! I just couldn't see it happening. How can one live a decent life, pay bills with that calling? She said to me here's the thing, you have no idea what is possible from wherever you are! Just Move! Just do it! Your greatness is on the other side of that NO! I sat there listening to this and it so resonated with me! You just never know until you move! take action, take a bold step and the other reason why it resonated so much on that day was that I received a request to facilitate a course and they told me the audience and how high their

What did I learn today? Dreams do come true

The love, the feeling for all to see, The freedom, the fire, that sense of giving This must be the sweetest sweetness, the Sunday morning of our ecstasy This must be that sense of heaven, the elder ones kept pounding into me It doesn't get too much better than this!! (David Rudder, soca singer) So the book is ready and available for sale! yayyyyy!!! Yesterday was a tough one, I kept  reminding myself to leave the judgment alone! I had to drive towards the West of the country to go to a factory. While I was driving I was taking in the scenery and thinking how could a beautiful country like this have all this poverty! People selling second hand clothes and shoes on the pavement, the dirt houses, the shacks, the dirty rivers and drains, and sometimes the despair! Then while driving I received a text from Boscoe, remember him? The previous caretaker who was taken to jail for molesting one of the babies in the compound, he wanted me to send him money because his life is so h

Accept Reality or Suffer

In my mind, Sunday was going to be awesome, I would be doing two of my favourite things, running and watching football on telly! The stage was set, 3 big games on it's super Sunday, I had no plans to cook either, nothing would take me away from these games I wanted to lie around the flat on the couch watching football ALL DAY!!! I got my supplies together, had a big breakfast and got ready. Fifteen minutes into the game, the electricity went! I sat there in disbelief! Then I remembered where I was! Sub Saharan Africa where less than 15% of the population has a steady electricity supply! Where infrastructure is still being built up! Roads, railways, airports, hell even gender equality is still catching up with the rest of the world! I wanted to scream! Why do people here accept this? Do they know that they deserve better? Then I remembered the lessons, arguing with reality will only make you suffer! Get the lesson and get out the mess!  I guess the Universe had other plans
