Be confident. Know that you are brilliant, and full of potential.

Be confident. Know that you are brilliant, and full of potential. Humble yourself in this knowledge, and your gifts will flourish. Everything that you know, are, and do is a gift to the world. However, separate this gift from your ego, and your pride, and the gift begins to shine. Les Brown, motivational speaker

Monday meetings are full oflife lessons and fireworks! I see firsthand how passion drives a vision forward and I learn so much along the way! Sometimes it may just be one fleeting comment or it may be a longer conversation after I ask or is asked a question! One thing that runs through many of these conversations are there is enough, be yourself and believe in yourself relentlessly and you have the power within you to do whatever you want to do. When you really believe that you are worthy of the best, that you deserve the best, that there is enough of the best for you to have plenty, there will absolutely no need for you to grab or clutch, dishonor yourself, hide or squeeze wha…

Our relationships with others are only as emotionally healthy, happy, holy and content as our relationships with ourselves. Sara Bran Bretchnath
You know those conversations that you have with yourself, well if you don’t, let me tell you, there are times that I have conversations with myself, especially when I believe that I messed up! The conversation wouldmore be like a berating ( we call it buff where I’m from) So I buff myself and it goes into a spiral! Then I read something about loving yourself, being compassionate with yourself and forgiving yourself because how you treat yourself will be reflected in the relationships you have with other people!
I decided to give it a try for two weeks, to change the conversations that I have with myself. The first attempt would be at my boxing training (they call me Shuga)! I do boxing training three times a week with my tough coach Opio, a hard and hard body man from Sudan! Sometimes we go running before we spar. After ten minutes of running I…

Xtraordinary Conversations

Today, let us remember, as often as we can, that there is no one who is not our brother. Let us remember that we are all part of the one Self, and that our oneness with All-That-Is is a blessing we can never lose.Together, we are a whole. Apart, we are nothing. There is only one of us. ACIM On Saturday I was invited to the launch of a project called the Xtraordinary Conversations, a movement by some young forward thinking brilliant people together to "take East Africa forward" It was indeed a humbling and interesting experience, I was extremely grateful to be involved! Read up on the project, get involved, give some feedback! Peace!!http://xtraordinary.co.ug/news/xtraordinary-magazine-launches-live-conversations-on-its-portal-in-east-africa/

Gratitude is the most transformative force in the cosmos, because gratitude is love. Sarah Bran Brethnath, (author)

The driving force behind the Liberate the Poor Tanzania(LPT) is an ambitious hard working fella! I am quite humbled, honoured, extremely grateful and excited to be a part of this movement!
Stay tuned and if you have a moment, support their work!
Peace!!!

This is why we practice!

You don’t need to forgive until you need to forgive. You don’t need nerves of steel until you need nerves of steel. You don’t need to call on your reserves of compassion, or fortitude, or faith until you’ve used up everything else. This is why we practice ( Danielle La Porte, author)
They called me downstairs, the baby was crying for a very long time, I heard the baby and thought to myself what exactly is going on down there this is quite unusual! Anyways, I turned my music up.
I live in a compound with four families and three babies we have a care taker who lives with us 24/7. John Boscoe is his name. The oldest baby is 3 years old. When I get home on evenings if they are outside playing, they greet me and I feel this sense of joy that is hard to explain. The three of them run up to the car shouting “Aunty Mazungu) I don’t know why that’s my first smile because Mazungu means white woman and we all know that is not the case!
They get to the car, I open the door and they are screaming A…

Living well is about being genuinely thankful for your situation in every moment

Living well is not about needing or having or getting. Living well is about being genuinely thankful for your situation in every moment, and choosing to make it even better.
Ralph Marston

Since I have been here, there have been so many shifts in my thinking! Busy-ness to me is a heap of unmade decisions ,hiding and fear! Taking a pause is imperative. I go from one situation to the next with a pause in between with absolutely no guilt! It is really ok to stop and reflect then start again!

What are we so busy doing that you are always on the go and cannot take a pause?
What’s going to happen that you cannot take a break?
What?
A course in miracles talks about the Holy Instant where one takes a pause and recognize that you have this silent power, where you are one with the Universe, it can just be one moment so any moment can be the moment!

If I ever tell you I am busy I will buy you lunch for a week! That’s life, we got things to do!
According to my girl Danielle La Porte “I’m just so busy,” i…

Mistakes are opportunities for learning

Mistakes are opportunities for learning. To condemn your brother for making mistakes is to pretend to be mistake free, which you are not. I have asked you before and I will ask you again: which one of you will throw the first stone?
Paul Ferrini

I was getting upset, why was this situation coming up again with this same person? Didn’t we discuss this before more than once? I was getting more and more annoyed. As I was about to open my mouth to say something in annoyance and agitation I heard a voice! Have you not made mistakes before? Have you not been learning about how to navigate your way in this new situation? Where did that voice come from? I started talking, the voice continued relax and then ask another question
Ok so the thing is I have learnt when something like that happens you pay attention, you just do it! I stopped talking, I listened to what she was saying and then put myself in her shoes for just one minute!
Those two minutes changed the entire dynamic of the conversation …

Mining and Getting caught

"You cannot get sick enough to help sick people get better. You cannot get poor enough to help poor people thrive. It is only in your thriving that you have anything to offer anyone. If you're wanting to be of an advantage to others, be as tapped in, turned in, turned on as you can possibly be." - Esther Abraham-Hicks, is a best-selling author and lecturer

Uganda borders DR Congo on its Western side, since I have been here I have seen some things that make me scratch my head, this continent has resources galore, call it, they got it! Why are they “poor” scratching my head still on that one, although I have a few theories! Anyways, back to what I learnt, one can ruck up on a river in DR Congo (provided you get through the border) and don’t have to dig or mine and get gold! Like gold eh!. And not a little bit either. You can go to a village and lime (hang out, chill out) with the chief or a big land owner, sweet talk him with beers, a boom box and maybe some girls and get a…

What have you done with your dreams?

Your genuine action will explain itself, and
will explain your other genuine actions.
Your conformity explains nothing.

—Ralph Waldo Emerson
Here’s the question I was faced with today. “What have you done with your dreams?” Huh? “. “What have you done with the visions for your life?”
I thought about this for a moment
So what did I learn today?
Many of us fail to dream because we fear that our dreams will never come to pass. Is pushing it further from our imagination going to make it materialize any faster? What is the hurt or disappointment that you strive so desperately to protect yourself from? Is our life fulfilled from having fewer dreams? Does staying locked up inside ourselves make us think that we are in control? Maintaining a dream and a vision requires that we let go of our anxieties. Anxiety is living in the future in the present! Believe! You came here with dreams and visions! There is a reason for that!
Many of us hoard our visions, stockpiling them in our secret vaults. What a…

Acceptance of what is!

Do not concern yourself with what others do or leave undone. It is not your responsibility to evaluate their thoughts or their actions. Simply be responsible for how you think and act. For if you think and act with God you will influence others without saying a single word.
Confessions on the journey! Today it seemed that things here were just getting on my nerves! The things that I would normally not bother about were pissing me off. I jumped into my car to drive to base, I was pissed at the divers on the road who follow no particular order, overtaking on corners, driving on either side of the road, the boda boda men on their bikes were part of my high pissosity! I got to base, I jumped out of the car, Madam there’s no Internet. What? (this is not a very abnormal thing, it goes down every week) I was like what? I got on the phone right away! Poor Frank on the other end got some of the backlash of my pissed off state! Then I realised, wait things are just spiralling let me jump back i…

Loving self is a power!

Love, An energy, Something that is felt. Self, An identity, Something that is known. Loving Self, A power, Something that radiates. She that nurtures, at times without being nurtured. She that gives, at times without receiving. She that mothers, at times without being mothered. She must love self. In order to love at all. (Natalie Stewart)
Loving self is a power! And with this power comes responsibility! For me, responsibility means the willingness to accept ALL the consequences which are related to self! Not being a victim, not blaming people, accepting what is and then taking action with courage. It’s the start of everything that is awesome in life, loving self!
With me, its is a journey and the journey begins again every morning. First I had to become aware, to become conscious, responsible!
Being here I am reminded that we are never ever victims, we cannot control so many things around us but we can continue to love ourselves out of the situation!
So what did I learn today?
Love yuhsel…

How you gonna flow, if you're in your way?

Humility is recognition of truth. Your worldly accomplishments are a gift bestowed upon you by the Uni-verse, nothing is possible without the support of the invisible realm of the Infinite Mystery. When you know that you actually do nothing and are simply a channel for the Good, Abundance, Joy and Peace that already existed before your birth to be rearranged to your preference you will be in harmony with Life. The minute you buy into being the doer of anything you have taken yourself out of the flow and stepped back into Ego thinking. All things have been created by the Joyful will of the Infinite Mystery, Life is an experience of making choices about how you want to arrange things in your life. You can choose to arrange things in a Fearful, Egoic way, or you can choose to arrange things in a Loving and Joyful way. When you choose Love and Joy you align with the greatest and highest Good and begin to express your unique creative perspective while at the same time feeling a oneness wit…

Live Fully!

The key to changing the world, to changing your life, and to empowering those around you is authenticity - the willingness to be yourself - the willingness to be vulnerable - the willingness to feel - the willingness to live  Pananche Desai
Life is not a spectator sport nor is it a purpose for being critiqued or graded. Too much of your livingness is constricted, restricted, conditioning or limited by your concern about people are going to think or say about you. This causes you to hesitate, evaluate and re-evaluate the conditions and circumstances rather than simply participate in the moment. So many moments in which you could be living are lost because you are too busy thinking about your experience of living rather than simply living your life!
Living will never make you smaller, it will make you expand! Living also implies being comfortable with a certain degree of uncertainty. You cannot lose, you can never lose! P Peace!!

This life has an infinite number of potentials for you

Take one idea. Make that one idea your life- think of it,dream of it,live on idea. Let the brain, muscles nerves every part of your body be full of that dea and just leave every other idea alone. This is the way to successSwami Vivekananda Hindu mystic

Long day yesterday, driving in Africa is always an adventure not only due to the state of the roads which are sometimes non existent but there are other factors which come into play! Jinja is a town on the River Nile, there is also Lake Victoria. It feels like a sleeping giant. There is lots to see and do. You can white water raft, you can take a boat and just chill on the calm river, you can see animals, birds, you can drink beer because the biggest beer manufactures in the country are based there. The Show is HUGE! There was wall to wall people and dust everywhere!! I finally managed to get inside, our gardens and booths were well attended and doing well. I managed to be talked into drinking juice out of the banana I swear they use the…

Road Trip Time

nobody needs your help. I know, I know...this is a difficult one. But it is true. Yet
this does not mean no one wants your help, or that no one
could use your help. It simply means the thought that another
Aspect of Divinity is powerless without you is inaccurate.
Do not do something, therefore, because you think someone
else needs you. That only builds resentment. Do whatever
you do as a means of deciding, declaring, creating, and
experiencing who you are--and who you choose to be. Then
you will never feel victimized, powerless, or without choice.
Yes? You see how simple it all is? Get out of victimhood ( Neale Donald Walsh)

Road trip again, off to Jinja to check out the Company's offering at the annual Jinja Trade show, it is one of the biggest Agricultural Trade Shows for the year, it goes on for 7 days. I still marvel at how big this country is, and it still is one of the smallest on the continent! To drive somewhere they consider near is like 3 hours! Coming from an island a 3 hour…

Obligate yourself to your dreams

This article was written by Danielle La Porte, a truth teller extraordinaire, I thought I would share it. Had a meeting last night and we were talking about dream killers seems to be something happening wherever humans are!!!!

The thing about overachievers is that they love achieving — at everything they do. They want to hit every ball outta the park. And typically, they hate to let people down. And whether it’s pure ego or dignity, overachievers like to look good.
This can make it hard for achievers to transition from pleasing other people to truly pleasing themselves. Day job to dream-chasing. Team leader to solopreneur. Conventional path to leap of faith. When you decide to go after a new dream, you need to give less to your current reality and more to your desired reality.I see this struggle especially with people who want to leave a situation to start their own thing: You set your sights on your dream, and yet, you keep giving your current, kinda-crappy situation 110% — out of …

It is only the humble mind that is receptive and thirsty for knowledge.

A gain in knowledge does not serve its true purpose unless it is also accompanied by a gain in humility Why? 1) The more you know, the more one realizes there is so much more yet to be known. 2) The lack of humility creates a block to further learning. It is only the humble mind that is receptive and thirsty for knowledge. 3) The final purpose of knowledge is to remove all false identifications of self, and genuine humility is just that - a decrease of ego and an increase of your proximity to truth. 4) Finally, whatever one knows is understood be due to His light alone. Realizing this, how can one not be humble?( Sudir Krisnan)

When you are clear about what you want to do and pursue it with full intent and a burning desire the magic happens! I wanted to share all what I have learnt on my journey’s so far, I wanted to learn from others who have the knowledge, who have walked the path and together make a difference where ever I am. I surrendered the how! Why? Because the Universe is just…

Take yourself to a place of no limitations

If you are going to be courageous, an example for all those who are ready to step into their power, then you must be willing to show the world all of who you are. You must have the guts to throw off the chains of modesty and mediocrity in order to be the light that the world needs. (Debbie Ford, author and another one of my great teachers, RIP)
On Monday’s we sit together and brainstorm about how to improve on what we are doing. Many times there are fireworks, and always there are lessons! This Monday,as I walked into the room, “Madam, I have something for you to execute” Really? Do tell. So I was thinking that we set up a toll free line for the farmers, when they are in the remote villages it is often difficult for them to come into see us and we only visit them periodically, but they all have mobile phones so set it up, execute it!” Amm hello jus so?
So what did I learn today? You cannot learn about yourself if you are always staying within the confines and borders of the familiar. Yo…

The Journey to Self Discovery in Uganda

Image
The cosmos doesn’t measure sweat and hours for reward. The cosmos deals in the currencies of joy and satisfaction. That means, if easing up makes you happier and more fulfilled; the universe will help you pull it off. Danielle La Porte
It’s funny how things happen when you let go! What am I talking about? I surrendered the process I just asked the Universe for what I wanted and got out of the way of insisting it happen how and when I wanted! Life is always in session I just need to show up and be ready!
So over the last few weeks I have been minding my own business and it fell right into my lap. I met with one of the young and upcoming entrepreneurs in Uganda and they have asked me to facilitate sessions which includes a mixture of Entrepreneurship and Self Discovery! How bloody awesome is that?
I am so excited about it! Will let you know how it goes. I’ve attached the poster
Drop me a line let me know what you think
Peace!!!

You are your own magician

FACT – Fear is always part of the equation of manifesting your desires – feel the fear and do it anyway! Les Brown (another boss teacher!)
I had a penny dropping (PD) moment yesterday! The whole thing just made sense to me after having an interesting conversation with Buluhan Buluhan Magembe General Secretary/CEO Liberate the Poor Tanzania (these guys are doing some really awesome work in Tanzania and I am now proud and humbled to be in partnership with them) www.lptanzania.org
Why do we shy away from what we really want to do if it is different to the status quo? We seem to find all the reasons why we should not do what our heart is screaming at us to do. And we prefer to stay safe and miserable rather than stepping out! The fear cripples us! I am guilty of this big time! Ok I want to work with women entrepreneurs all over the world, I start off with hmm how will I pay my bills? I have a big mortgage to pay! The things that we think make us free actually keep us in bondage!
I want to op…

Suff does not equal wealth

The less gullible we are about the illusions that come with money-talk and materialism, the more likely we are to value ourselves and what truly matters. If we can see through the smoke and mirrors, we’re less likely to play the comparison game — because: If you measure your success against someone else’s results, you will never be free – ever. Danielle La Porte
We have this discussion about money here often, sometimes the money trickles in and it sets some of the people here into a state of frenzy! One of the ladies said we should close down the branch up North. This is where passions and voices started getting higher.
Close down the branch? Because the cash is not as much as we would like for the last two months? Are we in this area for the cash? Is that the statement that we want to make to the world? Can we get more innovative and creative? Can we have patience?
This is a post conflict area; there are different rules so let’s not talk cash as the first position in making a decision a…

The power of magnificence is right where you are

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our time running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous. Giving up on love and belonging and joy – the experiences that make us most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to expose our darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light. (Brene Brown, author)
(Favourite lesson this week so far!) My light bursts through right where I am. “Often when you think of this journey, this change of life, you have some idea of what you want to get from it. There is a light calling you and you are moving into it. This is fine if it assists you in moving along your path. However the light I speak of now is not outside of you pulling you: it is at the core of your being, bursting through right where you are. There is no place to go. There is no extra journey you need to take. The power of this magnificence is right where you are.
You seem to be looking for something outside of yourself …
