There is no need to be restless

There is no need to be restless or anxious, concerned about whether I will make it or when I will make it. I will. That is all I need to know. It is accomplished already, and I can travel this illusory journey in peace knowing that in reality it is already over . ACIM On my way to the school to launch the NiNa Programme! I read that passage this morning and exhaled! thought I would share it with you! Oh another random thing, I was at the airport this morning at 5am giving someone I never met 11 of my books! Life is full of adventures and surprises! Peace!!

Light ah fyah!

Release is evident of TRUST! Unknown I think yesterday was one of my most humblest and grateful moments! I was asked to come and do a talk to a group of women in NYC, I could not do it, my schedule did not allow for this to happen. They insisted that they wanted to talk about my book at their gathering! I spoke to my publicist and she agreed to go and answer any questions. She called me after so excited and happy. "This was so awesome, they read from your book, asked questions, want to meet you and want to do it again with you there" "Are you serious?" "Yes, as a heart attack" "They really resonated with your story and have asked me for eleven books as well" She went on and on about how the fire spread and I light it and I was not even there! I felt a swell of humility and gratitude that I smiled all day People I am sharing this story to say, do you! Do you and keep doing you! There's no need for perfection, only willingnes

How do you see the world?

You don't see the world how it is, you see the world how you are ! L.A. Watkins How do you see the world? Do you see it as rough, wrong, hard or do you see it as a journey, something to look forward to, inviting? How you see the world is what will reflect in what you do! I heard the statement on Thursday and it resonated with me so much so that I stopped and asked myself the question! Asking the question makes a difference to quite a bit of the decisions that I have made since them! Peace!!!

Make the call...

I'm blowing up like you thought I would, call the crib, same number, same hood, its all good And if you don’t know now you know Notorious BIG NiNa Young Entrepreneurs Programme moves to Penal! South of the Island, to a new school, a new audience and a new team! I'm pretty excited! The Programme which focuses on teaching young women about empowerment through entrepreneurship is spreading! And even better, we were able to secure sponsorship from Republic Bank Limited, one of the country's leading banking institutions! I'm celebrating today this milestone of new school, new sponsor and transformation This is a call to you, to do something that you always wanted to, to take the risk, make the call, write the email! And if you heard no, shake it off and move on again! I had a thousand no's but I pressed on and used what I had and the Universe is so gentle at times, there were people and friends who I asked for assistance who gave their precious time and energy

If you don't know now you know!

You know very well, who you are, don't let them hold you down, reach for the stars! And if you don't know now you know  Notorious BIG So I ran the Green Race this morning, talk about jumping out the comfort zone! The Green Race is a 5 mile run on the North Coast Road that ends in a town called Arima! Up at 4 am asking myself why am I doing this? The answer was clear, jump out the comfort zone and show yourself that you can do it, then take that same mindset on the road knowing that you can do anything! I did it! I am in awe of the human mind and body to produce results once the negative chatter is ignored all I was concerned was with finishing, running the whole way and being proud of me! And today I am! Peace!!

Live your own story. Don't try to edit someone else's!

Break loose! Free yourself from dysfunctional people who are experts at meeting their own needs at the expense of yours. Don't let people stay in your life who trample on your feelings or behave badly. Set clear boundaries so that you don't get caught up their maze of madness, or feel responsible for their life choices or consequences. Live in your own story. Don't try to edit someone else's. Les Brown To let go is to not cut myself off, it is the realization that I cannot control another To let go is not to enable but to allow learning from natural consequences We feel that to let go is to admit powerlessness which means the outcome is not in our hands To let go is not to try and change and blame another it’s to make the most of myself To let go is not to care for but to care about To let go is not to fix but to be supportive It’s not to judge but to allow another to become another human being How do we practice letting go? Get yourself out of

All Change is not growth!

What is your life revolving around? Deborah L Johnson Interesting question isn't it? Yea I thought so! What is my life revolving around? And when you get the answer you see what's really happening in your own world! So lesson for the weekend, all change is not growth! Sometimes we want things to just be different, different people, different places, different things! And we end up having the same experiences, same life just with different people in a different place with different things and stuff! All change is not growth! You take YOU where ever YOU go! Growth requires a choice, you have to choose it! Consciously choose it! And that is the start and maybe that is the end as well So I sat down yesterday and asked myself, what is my life revolving around? I want it to revolve around love, faith, compassion and growth, then everything else will fall into place! I will make decisions based on those principles rather than on what society wants, what is the latest style an

Be free to sit inside and quietly love

If you aren't so preoccupied with trying to be okay, you will be free to sit inside and quietly love, serve, and honor whatever naturally unfolds in front of you. When you reach this point, you are no longer living for yourself. You are interacting with life, but not for the purpose of being okay .Micheal Singer Ok, the best book I have read this year is by Michael Singer called the Untethered Soul. The book pulled at every single one of my strings! So much good stuff in that small book! I must have reread every chapter about three times! Michael Singer talks about letting go, our relationship with our thoughts and awareness! I now have a totally different view on what letting go! I decided that I will practice his concept of letting go, which in my own mind I interpreted as opening my heart and letting things pass through rather than holding on to it, analysing it and then storing it for future use! Useless really! Why store stuff for no reason and then bring it up again when

Go create something today!

You can change what you see. You don't have to be trapped by it. Nothing has to remain the way it is, and nothing is the way it is forever unless and until you say so. You really are in charge of your day-to-day experience. Really. (Neale Donald Walsh, author ) Started writing again, and what I have learnt is that we, all of us, were born to create! All, every single one of us put on this earth, have the ability to create! Creation is our birthright! Why do we spend time tearing down, running from our creative power, trying to fix life and people and things? Because of fear! We are afraid of mostly our own power! We are afraid of the unknown, what people would say, what they think, how we're going to survive! Fear changes everything! But hey, fear is there and if we play into it life will be boring and stressful as hell! Create something today, do something with the power that you were given by the Universe, it could be a cake, a mug of mauby ( that's a type

Who told you that you're not enough?

What’s driving your habit to improve? Are you fixing your flaws, or are you exploring your potential? Are you inviting the real you to emerge, or are you trying to cure your so-called shortcomings? DLP Thank you Chela Davidson for pointing this out to me! Big love! We’re so inside it that it’s almost impossible to imagine what we’d do with our time if we weren’t trying to make more money, look more perfect, acquire more stuff or be mo’ better. So what would happen if we were actually operating from a place of sufficiency rather than lack? Would we let ourselves go? Would we lose all drive? Would we not buy anything ever again? Well, we would probably stop associating sugar water with happiness, that’s for damn sure.   This question, that comes in many forms, is posed a lot as rebuttal: If I truly believed I was enough and I had enough, wouldn’t I just become complacent? Lazy? Nothing more than a disgraceful lump of everything I’ve been working my tail off not to degener

The Creator works through a rested mind

Image
For everything there is a season. Hey awesome folks. Just about to board a plane again and wanted to touch base. So far I've been working and writing. I learnt on this trip about balance. A time and place for everything.  A time to work and a time to play. And when things are off balance what happens? It all falls down! So tip the scales. Balance it. The creator works through a rested mind. Peace!

Raise your own standards

Let go or be dragged.... Less Brown Hello awesome people Checking in from the windy city of Chicago. What did I learn today? Well, simply put, my responsibility, my life! The quality of my choices whether conscious or unconscious, will reflect in the life that I currently live. Its really that simple. So the choice is and remains to be responsible, be as conscious as possible, raise the standard, my own standards. And let go! Peace!

What's the worst that can happen?

The world’s greatest lie is that you lose control of your life, that you have to obey some rules that are not your rules Paul Coelho I'm waiting to board the flight to Chicago!  I always liked the Windy City (in the summer!lol) sorry Chi town peeps, your city it lovely but when its cold its ruff!! So just checking in and reminding you to take a risk to live your dream, write the book, open the business, bake the cake, make the call, send the text, change the job, take the course! What's the worse that can happen? Peace out! https://www.facebook.com/AkosuaDardaineEdwards

It gets better with authenticity

In this right here moment, I accept and BELIEVE that there is nothing I lack - NO thing I need added unto me to make me complete - and NO thing that is wrong, bad, rotten, unloved, and amiss about me.  God made me and She does NOT make mistakes.  I am perfect! Peter Ripley It gets better with authenticity! That's what I learnt yesterday at the book signing event in NYC! As I do this more often, it gets better when I am just me and being me is so easy! So how do you show up in your life? I'm showing up as me every single time... There was a band that started the event with music and they were rocking! Steel drums, djembe drums, bass and guitar! The folks there were digging the music! It set a really nice vibe for the rest of the night! A piece was read from the book, one that I couldn't remember and it set me off thinking, I should really sit and read this book again! I listened and was interested in hearing what other people resonated with in the book!

Ready and rearing to go!

Image
No work of love will flourish out of guilt, fear, or hollowness of heart, just as no valid plans for the future can be made by those who have no capacity for living now . Alan Watts, author Today is the day! The day, the day, the day for another Book Signing event at Nicolas Brooklyn! All I can say right now is that I am humbled, grateful, ready, rearing and excited! Boom!

Everyone has a story

Image
Everything that needs to be said has already been said. But since no one was listening, everything must be said again." —André Gide Yesterday's event was at the Moth, totally awesome experience! The Moth is a place where you are allowed to tell YOUR story! I heard stories yesterday that made me chuckle, cry, laugh, clap, think! And I have learnt that we ALL have a story and I am making mine an empowering one! Big thank you to Ms Tricia Clarke who introduced me to the Moth and will be reading at the event tomorrow If you are anywhere close, feel free to come and say hi! Peace!

I am here for a purpose...

I am here for a purpose - Louise Hay Day 2 NYC NYC is full of lessons! I have learnt acceptance, the power of positive thinking and showing up as you every single time! I've had a few meetings and a few rejections to go along with it! Listen the thing hurt! Initially, I was sour, salty, quiet, pensive! The thing hurt, did I already say that? Yea so what's next? The lessons started kicking in and that is when I know that I have progressed! I eat No's like Cherioos, No means next opportunity and man's rejection is God's protection, I started singing that mantra to myself from about an hour after the "salty" behavior Rejection happens, what I have learnt is the story we give it is usually worse than what it really is, I have also learnt that it is a fuel for going again, taking a pause and looking at things with fresh eyes, listening to you gut feeling and obeying what it tells you! Two more events today and a little more wise! Peace!

Taking a bite out of the Apple...

yearning for a new way will not produce it. Only ending the old way can do that. Neale Donald Walsh  NYC awesome ones!!, I love the city, its buzzing, its vibrant, its to me, filled with opportunities and dreamers and lessons! I arrived last night about midnight and the place was jamming! Places open, lights blazing! I couldn't help but be stoked up as well! Today I start my "business" meetings with book stores, planning events and in between having some F.U.N! Wish me luck Peace!!

Claim Resonsibility

It takes a Goliath of a spirit to claim the responsibility for one's irresponsible behaviours. Most choose to defend self, explain self, with a desire to be more desirable based on justification. Reasons. Excuse. Natalie Stewart, Poet When you mess up, admit it! I've learnt that! When you're out of order, you're out of order. I've learnt that! It's best to own up, take responsibility, if you got to say sorry say sorry, no one is perfect! I've learnt that! It is not pretty to defend it, lie about it, justify it, cuss people about it. I've learnt that Be authentic Be real Be open Be big And then start all over again I've learnt that! Peace!!

My best type of meetings

Most people are dying from ignorance (Hosea 4:6) On Thursday I had a scheduled meeting. In my mind nothing too out of the ordinary, the usual chat about what's happening, options, moving forward, plans and the whole shebang! I had two meetings before with her and after I thought to myself and actually said it out loud as I was getting into the car " Self, you learnt a lot from that meeting about life and life lessons" She came across to me as wise, authentic and genuinely interested in people before work. People seemed to be the most important thing in the whole scheme of the work! How many top executives have I met with that mindset? Not many! I can count them on one hand! Those that are "free" and by that I mean they aren't scared about meeting targets, being shown up by someone else, confident in their own skin to learn and share and has balance? After Thursday's meeting I got back into the car and thought the same thing, wow I learnt som

Its all an inside job!

Nothing outside you can ever give you what you are lookin for Byron Katie Listen up. This one might need your extra attention. There is nothing ,hear me well, nothing that you are searching for and running behind that isn't in you. Brutally honest Stop the chasing and the running. Back up. Look in the mirror and say it out loud and look into your eyes when you say it. I am love I am power I am abundance I am awesome I am beautiful I am successful I am worthy I am enough Write it down even Then stop chasing people, places, things, qualifications, men, women, jobs, friends, sex, weed, food Whatever you are running behind to "complete" you or make you hap0y. It's in you. Notice it. Recognise it. Accept it. Love it. Know it. And then act like you know. Peace!

I am responsible for what I see..

I am responsible for what I see. I choose the feelings I experience, and I decide upon the goal I would achieve. And everything that seems to happen to me I ask for, and receive as I have asked. A Course in Miracles (ACIM)    ACIM keeps it real! That is why I love it, it's sometimes brutally honest, in the lesson called the "The Responsibility of Sight" it says "Deceive yourself no longer that you are helpless in the face of what is done to you. Acknowledge but that you have been mistaken" We make out that we are helpless, hell I have done this! why? why? why? and just moan and talk and no action! I have been doing this up to yesterday!  deceive yourself no longer that you are helpless in the face of what is done to you! Listen, it was done, it has been done but you are not helpless! do you realize that? you are not helpless! Sometimes when I drown out all the voices I sit in awe of how powerful we are and  how we refuse to tap into this power choo

No ordinary half hearted call here....

Image
This force, which is the best thing in you, your highest self, will never respond to any ordinary half-hearted call, or any milk-and-water endeavor. It can only be reached by your supremest call, your supremest effort. It will respond only to the call that is backed up by the whole of you, not part of you; you must be all there in what you are trying to do. You must bring every particle of your energy, unanswerable resolution, your best efforts, your persistent industry to your task or the best will not come out of you. You must back up your ambition by your whole nature, by unbounded enthusiasm and a determination to win which knows no failure… Only a masterly call, a masterly will, a supreme effort, intense and persistent application, can unlock the door to your inner treasure and release your highest powers.” - Orison Swett Marden , was an American writer associated with the New Thought Movement. NiNa- Developing Young Entrepreneurs a program I started in 2010 for young women

Is it for your highest good?

I have learnt that there is nothing like relationships (all types of relationships and particularly intimate ones) that can teach you about yourself! Family relationships and intimate ones especially. Why? because they really are like holding up a mirror to you showing you the good and the things that need some work. The things that we love about our families and loved ones are also inside us and the things that piss us off teaches us things like patience, courage, acceptance and unconditional love mostly for ourselves before anyone else! Everything outside ourselves is merely a reflection of the relationship we are having with our own inner being. So it is really a sobering thought to realise that when we are involved in a relationship that makes us feel powerless or is not what we want it really is a reflection of how we see ourselves at that moment in time and same the other way around. The fear of moving makes us paralyzed in making the step when we know we have to! I've lea
