November : Letting Go

"The quiet, powerful work of unclenching."

November arrives as an invitation. it invites us into the sacred practice of letting go.
For a long time, I misunderstood what letting go meant. I thought it was giving up. I thought it signaled defeat, weakness, or a lack of commitment. As though releasing my grip somehow cancelled out all the effort, energy, love, and determination I had invested.

What I have come to learn is something very different.

Letting go is not giving up.

Letting go is a conscious choice to trust.

To trust the God of your understanding.

To trust the work you have already done.

To trust the seeds you have already planted.

To trust that after doing all that you can humanly do, there comes a moment when holding on harder no longer serves the journey.

There is courage in that moment.

There is wisdom in recognizing the difference between persistence and attachment.

Sometimes we hold on because we care deeply. Sometimes we hold on because we are afraid. Afraid that if we loosen our grip, everything will fall apart. Afraid that if we stop controlling every detail, we will lose what matters.

Yet often it is the opposite that is true.

The tighter we cling to expectations, timelines, outcomes, and old stories, the heavier we become.

We exhaust ourselves carrying what was never ours to carry.

We become attached to how things should happen, when they should happen, and who we believe we must be when they do.

November asks us to reconsider.

What if peace is found not in controlling the outcome, but in trusting the process?

What if freedom lives on the other side of surrender?

What if letting go is not an act of weakness, but one of profound strength?

I know that letting go can be difficult, especially when trust in ourselves is limited. When we doubt our decisions, our worth, or our ability to handle whatever comes next, holding on can feel safer than releasing.

But trust grows through practice.

Each time we choose to release something we can no longer control, we strengthen our trust muscles.

Each time we loosen our grip on an old story, we create space for a new one.

Each time we surrender an expectation, we make room for possibility.

Letting go does not mean you stop caring.

It does not mean you stop showing up.

It does not mean your dreams no longer matter.

It simply means you stop carrying the burden of making everything happen according to your plan.

You continue to do your part.

You continue to walk faithfully.

You continue to show up with intention and integrity.

And then, you release.

You breathe.

You trust.

This month, I am letting go of timelines that were never mine.

I am letting go of expectations that no longer fit.

I am letting go of old stories that keep me tethered to versions of myself I have already outgrown.

I am letting go so I can walk softer, lighter, freer.

And perhaps that is the gift of November.

Not that everything becomes clear.

Not that every question finds an answer.

But that we learn to unclench, to surrender, and to trust that what is meant for us does not require us to live with our fists closed.

Peace and Blessings

Reflection Question: What are you holding on to that may be asking to be released?

Affirmation for November: I have done what I can. I release what I cannot control. I trust the unfolding of my journey, and I welcome peace, courage, and freedom into my life.
