End of one journey on to the next, thank you NYC

Everything is energy, every thought you have, every word you speak, and energy cannot be destroyed, it can be altered or transformed but it cannot be destroyed. Our work is that we are not holding, harbouring hiding negative energy.Start getting honest about our thoughts, feelings, our beliefs and our behaviours Iyanla Vanzant New York blew my mind! Honestly, the love and good vibes that I felt over these ten days was truly off the chain! I am so humbled and grateful for the experience. I met so many wonderful people, had so many aha moments and was just proven to again that the Universe really has my back! Back to Trinidad, ok confessions on the journey, I like being alone, I like it! I mean like spending time alone in reflection, going to eat sometimes alone, just like my company and it sometimes pisses people off! Hey, I confess I sometimes people please, I am a recovering people pleaser, so I am home and being alone is tougher and I have to find a way to set some boundarie...

The day after the day after!

So I ask you, my friend, are you willing to go there? Are you willing to sit in fire and sacrifice the comfort of your known world for the potential of something amazing, new and unknown? Don't you want to find out what's on the other side of your fear?   Jackson Kiddard Today is my last day in NYC, I have 2 events today a brunch with the Southern Connection who made me their person of the month because I was born in San Fernando Trinidad and a dance event at the Brooklyn Academy of Music that Medgar invited me to! I woke up this morning pretty early and went for a run and was just so full up of gratitude for these past days! Giving thanks since then!! OK, Sisters Uptown Bookstore and Cultural Center book signing last Friday was an absolute dream come true! The space touched my soul, really really did! The Right Place at the Right Time

Your mindset—what you think about, repeat to yourself, and profess out loud—will become your reality. Lisa Nicols At the Sugarcane Book signing, there I am minding my own business, doing my thing and one of the patrons asked if I would be willing to do a television interview on Wednesday! Well why not??? So that's just how it happened. Yesterday I had the privilege of doing an interview with Nellon Hunt of Nellon in New York, to be aired in Toronto, Trinidad and New York! Love how the Universe lines things up! Stay tuned Peace!!

DAY 1 - Book Signing day 1!

I acknowledge the progress in my life and being, through the support and grace of God, my ancestors, elders, teachers, spiritual guides, sisters and brothers. Rev. Manazerine Olujimi Baptiste So Day one of my book signing duties are over! I had such an awesome day, woke up early and went for a run, the weather was perfect for a run! Got back and my aunt wanted to take me for breakfast! We went to a Trinidad restaurant and it was almost like I never left home, I kept remembering she lives in the US so she wanted a taste of the local food, she flew in to NYC on Saturday night to support me in the events! We bought it to take away as suddenly we realised we were running late! OMG I can't be late for Medgar Evers College! So breakfast remained right on the table! When I got to the College, about fifteen minutes before the start, there was no one in the room, they asked me to hold on for about ten minutes, then all of a sudden the place for full and overflowing there were no...

NYC and More Lessons

As I began to love myself I refused to go on living in the past and worry about the future. Now, I only live for the moment, where EVERYTHING is happening. Today I live each day, day by day, and I call it “FULFILLMENT”. I landed in NYC early in the morning, it's been a while since I was here! Always love the buzz and the vibe of the place, very multicultural but still familiar because of all the Trini's in Brooklyn The journey to NYC was challenging, not the flight itself but the day leading up to it. I have always run from having hard conversations and I needed to have 2 before I left. I managed to have one and it was tough, just proud of me that I did it, anyways, will leave this story for another time, the point I am making is that I did it and didn't suppress the feelings, lessons I learnt earlier on the journey So in NYC, preparing for the launch, excited about it, sold one book already (yayy) and just going with the flow. give thanks! Peace

As I began to Love Myself

As I began to love myself I found that anguish and emotional suffering are only warning signs that I was living against my own truth. Today, I know, this is “AUTHENTICITY”. As I began to love myself I understood how much it can offend somebody As I try to force my desires on this person, even though I knew the time was not right and the person was not ready for it, and even though this person was me. Today I call it “RESPECT”. As I began to love myself I stopped craving for a different life, and I could see that everything that surrounded me was inviting me to grow. Today I call it “MATURITY”. As I began to love myself I understood that at any circumstance, I am in the right place at the right time, and everything happens at the exactly right moment. So I could be calm. Today I call it “SELF-CONFIDENCE”. As I began to love myself I quit steeling my own time, and I stopped designing huge projects for the future. Today, I only do what brings me joy and happiness, th...

Build it upon truth and justice

Image
I fully realize that no wealth of position can long endure, unless built upon truth and justice; therefore, I will engage in no transaction which does not benefit all whom it affects. I will succeed by attracting to myself the forces I wish to use, and the cooperation of other people. I will induce others to serve me, because of my willingness to serve others. I will eliminate hatred, envy, jealously, selfishness, and cynicism, by developing love for all humanity, because I know that a negative attitude towards others can never bring me success. I will cause others to believe in me, because I will believe in them, and in myself. I will sign my name to this formula, commit it to memory, and repeat it aloud once a day, with full faith that it will gradually influence my thoughts and actions so that I will become a self-reliant and successful person."   - Napoleon Hill , from his best-selling and groundbreaking book  Think and Grow Rich . I'm back from Matura! Had an abso...

Mutura look mih!

Real achievement comes from choosing to achieve, again and again, moment after moment, until the goal is attained. Real achievement comes from choosing to achieve, and then continually reaffirming that choice with action Ralph Marston Heading to Matura this morning to facilitate a workshop, Matura is a rural area in Trinidad famous for the nesting of leather back turtles. It has become a model in terms of how a rural community can become sustainable using its natural resources. The Community has grown leaps over the years using what they have and is now one of the most successful both in terms of use of its natural resources and also staying true to its purpose and nature! I am looking forward to spending the weekend there and working with the team, mind you I will be taking in the turtles, the kayaking and the food! Ahhh work is play.... Have a great weekend peeps! Peace

Listen to the Whispers

Open heart - we are willing to be with whatever is evolving and whaever is showing up, just be present with what is and entertain the opportunities that might be there Paul Ferrini I'm planning my NYC trip where I do 3 book signings and a couple radio shows, it's a bit of a challenge planning things for there from far away and I must admit technology is really so bloody awesome it makes this whole exercise so much more easy. But here's the thing I learnt that really got me to pay attention and remember that this Universe really really got me! I had a band booked for all the events, package deal they go where I go and we were running ahead with all the marketing like that. Then they couldn't make it again at the last minute and of course I was disappointed, I sulked for a twenty minutes and then I said you know what start moving start focusing on something else because everything is either a lesson or a blessing! So I convinced myself that its all ok. I'm dr...

The daily commitment to being genuine in everything you say or do. The courage to be innocent and vulnerable, to express who you are in a world that wants you to conform, to be fearless and loving toward those whose own genuineness is so blocked that they will want to judge yours. To know with all your brain cells that the authentic self is indestructible because it is essence and essence is eternal. How will you know your authentic self when she arrives to greet you? You’ll feel a sense of at-homeness, a lack of pretence, nothing over-produced, a wholeness. You’ll know her as the “genuine article”—like an organic apple or a one-of-a-kind couture dress. Unique, different, imperfect, yet exceptional. That is your true nature. – Elizabeth Lesser Just for today, show up as yourself! There's something magical that happens when YOU show up! Peace!!

Everything we give is given to ourselves

The Six Human Needs 1. Certainty : assurance you can avoid pain and gain pleasure 2. Uncertainty/Variety : the need for the unknown, change, new stimuli 3. Significance : feeling unique, important, special or needed 4. Connection/Love : a strong feeling of closeness or union with someone or something 5. Growth : an expansion of capacity, capability or understanding 6. Contribution : a sense of service and focus on helping, giving to and supporting others (Tony Robbins, motivational speaker and author) Yesterday I had a meeting to attend as part of my Rural Development Programme Project. The village is about 2 hours North of the capital and is extremely scenic, nestled in a valley, the lush hills surround the village and can be seen at every vantage point, there are rivers, nature trails, a beach and waterfalls, the village grows food to survive, cocoa, coffee and christophene. I always like going there, this time I was meeting a new set of villagers, the fa...

Faith is what you are!

"What you are looking for you are looking with" Rev Deborah L Johnson (my favourite Rev!!) So, right on time I always get a lesson, and that is the beauty of this Universe, it shows time and time again that it is for me! It actually loves me and wants me to "get it" so the whole ask and you shall receive concept is absolutely true but I must be willing and remain open to receive! Anyways, this whole scenario came about on the weekend, I was having one of my huge human moments and doubting myself and the lesson came which I want to share with you, if it resonates, yayy, if it doesn't take what you want and need and leave the rest. Faith is what you are. You don't bring faith into your circumstances. There is not you, the circumstances and then faith. You, everything about you- how you perceive things, what you embrace and accept, what you perceive as possible, how willing you are to live in a place of non attachment and the like - you bring you as you en...

Acceptance

I want to share what I read today, read it before and keep going back to remind myself time and time again, today I am compelled to share - Peace! Acceptance is the acknowledg- ment of the inherent perfection in every person, situation and experience regardless of how difficult or challenging it may appear or feel.  Acceptance does not depend or rely upon what is going on externally. It is an internal state of awareness and being. Acceptance of others as doing the best they can, regardless of what they do or how they do it, eliminates judgment. In order to come to a place of accept- ance, you must be willing to relinquish your position (e.g. being right, what is fair, what you should or should not do, etc.) In the midst of a difficult experience, you are called to acceptance. You cannot change the past. Only by acceptance of the feelings and memories associated with the past are you able to change your choices and responses to similar experiences. Acceptance requi...

A song for NiNa!

Without me, the sun comes up in the morning and the stars twinkle at night. Before I’ve even gotten out of bed in the morning, the earth has spun 1/3 of the way round its axis and six billion people have done the best they know to do to increase their happiness and mitigate their suffering. And since I’m not in charge, I get to relax and enjoy the ride. Rather than cower in recognition of my own weakness and even helplessness in the face of forces far greater than my own, I am set free.” Michael Neill coach NiNa Young Entrepreneur's Programme finished its 4th cycle today, the participants gave a 5 minute business pitch in front of 3 judges and a winner chosen. NiNa is a programme I started in 2010 for young women between the ages of 15-19. The programme introduces the concept of entrepreneurial thinking and entrepreneurship as a career option, so far we have seen businesses open and participants receiving scholarships to study business! Today I felt such joy and gratitude ...
