Feedback vs. Noise

you can do anything for a little while if it’s going to make you better. You can do anything for a little while if it’s going to help you grow. Understand the blessing is on the other side.  Iyanla

How do we separate the feedback from the noise? How do we know what is information that we ought to take into consideration as compared to what is other people's "stuff"?
I have been asking myself this question for the past couple of days. This morning I got very still again and asked the question.
This is what I have come up with thus far:
When you hear feedback that you know can be used to improve, transform, change your way of being, you feel it, you resonate with it, you may even get pissed off but you receive it, even if it comes from a medium that you are not comfortable or happy with.
Other people's stuff, you know deep down that it does not resonate with you, it is more cutting and cruel, in your heart you know, this is not about me, not the postulating and the egoic response, the true one
Now you will stand a better chance of knowing the difference when you know who you are and are comfortable with yourself because you accept that there is always differing opinions and even if others disagree with you, there is a respectful way of coming up with a middle ground.
Peace
