Day 1 - Journey to Cape Town South Africa

During the period 19th October to 4th November I will be in Cape Town, South Africa at the SVRI Forum 2024.  The opportunity to share and learn among practioners from accross the globe on programes and research on gender issues is an unbelievable opprtunity. I was absolutely over the moon to be be invited to share the lessons learnt on the Nina Young Women's Leadership Program. and in one of the most beautiful cities that I have ever visited. I do feel a tinge of sadness going back as this will be the first time returning to South Africa since my sister friend Kele passed away in 2023. When I would visit South Africa in previous years, she would always take such good care of me, we would have tons of fun - she taught me about seizing the moment and being present to take advantage of all and any opportunities that would present itself,

The literal journey is a long one, I leave Port of Spain Trinidad on Friday night and arrive in Cape Town on Sunday afternoon. Passing through Houston and Washington DC will be a first.

What Does Support Look Like to You?

  You save yourself energy when you learn to ask people what they need, instead of assuming you know best then acting on your own impulses. Allowing people to define what support looks like gives you an ability to assess if you have the capacity to show up - Minaa B If someone asks you right now, what does support look like to you, what would be your answer? It takes self reflection , self awareness and more importantly a whole load of authenticity to answer. Redefinition of Lose

Rather than think about what you have to do to change a situation, consider what the situation might be doing to change you. How it might be seasoning and transforming and growing you. You are not responsible for everything and everyone. Allow that as a possibility.
