Get creative!

Sometimes I need only to stand wherever I am to be blessed.” (Mary Oliver, my second favourite poet!)

I arrived in Gulu safely; Lots of driving, police posts, a few baboons and African scenes! In between the drive I am dealing with a situation back home in Trini which is testing my patience!  I was staying on base there instead of a hotel. I told myself be ready for the adventure, be open and willing. The place was quite decent, I must admit. The only thing I had to open my mind to was the level of insects and bugs! You name it, they were there! Ok, suck it up, expect the unexpected and handle it!!

By now I am  tired, mash up mash down! Time to eat, they asked me what I want I say fish or vegetarian! Madam who eats food without meat? Anyways, they bring me fish and rice and a spoon! I ask nicely for a fork! A what!? A fork nah! What? Allyuh don't have forks? All I want is a fork to eat. Is that ok? Madam, firstly fish don't grow or is reared on the farm we have meat and maize and matooke! So we had to buy the fish and you fussing for a fork? Not very fine madam! Not fine!
It serves no purpose to blindly obsess over the world's superficial trinkets. You have food! Don't waste your energy worrying about what you do not have.
Boom! Put in my place straight away!I got a grip just said ok!

Gave thanks for the meal

Second day time to train, I roll up all Western, laptop and all that lovely stuff! Madam, there is no power. Huh? When will it be back?

“Maybe next week”

“Next week!! So what do I do then?”

“Madam, you get creative!”

Loved the response so much!!!

Yes, you get creative when you are faced with situations out of the norm!

Training went well, I had loads of fun and they found me a fork for lunch!

Peace!!
